Blues Boy Willie traveled to San Angelo, TX on May 7th to participate in the 2011 Simply Texas Blues Festival. The event is sponsored by the San Angelo Blues Society.

Willie won the event, and was backed by the Texas Blues Runners. By winning the competition, Blues Boy Willie qualifies to enter the 2012 International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN.

The street in the Sealy Flats Blues Diner was blocked off for the event, and downtown San Angelo was jamming. The event was attended by 5000 people, and Willie gave the crowd the true blues they came for.
